Familiarisation Visit – Dr. Fahad Aldawood
His Excellency Dr. Fahad is an Honorary Member of the Trinidad Saudi Chamber of Commerce. He is a specialist in Saudi Law and the Saudi Judicial System, whose expertise is duly recognized in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as in the Gulf countries, having represented the Kingdom at a host of high-level national and regional fora in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon and India.
He graduated from the prestigious Imam Saud University with Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in the Saudi Law and has previously taught at the Naif Arab University as Professor of International Justice as well as at the Banking Institute of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the field of Anti-Money Laundering.
History was made when His Excellency Dr. Fahad Aldawood visited Trinidad and Tobago in March 2014 as guest of the Trinidad Saudi Chamber of Commerce. It was the first official undertaking of the Trinidad Saudi Chamber of Commerce and never before had a person of his rank from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ever visited our nation. The visit was arranged by the Trinidad Saudi Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investments.
His Excellency Dr. Aldawood praised the people of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government for the gracious welcome. During the visit, he had meaningful engagements with the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago His Excellency Anthony Carmona SC, the Honorable Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC, MP, Prime Minister, the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, several senior Ministers and heads of various state bodies and NGOs.
The strategic importance and benefit of establishing closer diplomatic and trade ties between Trinidad and Tobago and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was raised. The high level of support and consensus among all parties for this initiative was extremely encouraging and this can be considered to be one of the hallmark achievements of the visit.
Dr. Aldawood thoroughly enjoyed his time in Trinidad as well as in Tobago. He was happy to meet with members of the TSCC and he had the pleasure of visiting the some of the top tourist destinations in Tobago.
