During his time in Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency was treated to a warm welcome by the membership of the TSCC and other special guests during a Dinner Reception at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain. The event facilitated networking amongst members, investment promotion, and an exchange of ideas for cooperation. The Saudi Vice Ambassador visited the Deputy Speaker of Parliament the Honourable Esmond Forde at his office in Port of Spain and both parties exchanged pleasantries and special tokens.
His Excellency spoke about the strategic importance of appointing a suitable representative of Trinidad and Tobago in KSA which would help to strengthen diplomatic ties through the establishment of bilateral joint committees such as parliamentary friendship committees. He referenced several other neighbouring CARICOM countries such as Jamaica, Guyana and Suriname which all have a presence in the Gulf region. In fact His Excellency noted that just two weeks ago St. Lucia appointed an honourary consul in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He went on to note that Trinidad and Tobago has a great deal in common with KSA. Moreover, he pointed out that Trinidad and Tobago has the most number of nationals travelling to the Saudi kingdom from the CARICOM nations. There is a significant number of Trinidad citizens resident in Saudi and working in several sectors such as oil and gas, English teachers, nurses, businessmen et al.
